Collage: from the French: coller, “to glue”; is a technique of artwork where an assemblage of different materials creates a new whole. In the Exploring Collage class, we will explore how unique materials and techniques can inspire you to create unique artwork. Investigate various practices including working with adhesives, water-based paints, acrylic mediums and layering. Discover how to incorporate recycling, deconstructing, repetitive and mark-making patterns and staining to create your own collage materials. Learn how to combine imagery, texture and found materials into your art piece.

A wide variety of materials, tools and supplies will be provided. If you have personal imagery (travel memorabilia such as hotel receipts, receipts for museum and opera tickets, luggage tags, airline tickets or ephemera from special occasions or family events) please bring it. If you do not want to use your “original” image, have a color or black & white laser print made.

All levels welcome; no experience necessary. Get ready to play and have fun!
