Benefit for Cascadia Poetry Festival/Fundraiser for Historic Marker commemorating Richard Brautigan And Steven J. Bernstein in Tacoma. No admission, donations welcome.
Further description: Critically acclaimed documentary chronicling the life and times of Seattle poet Steven "Jesse" Bernstein (1950-1991.) The fifth Cascadia Poetry Festival is being held in Tacoma this year, Oct. 12-15, and one of its themes is "A Tribute to Richard Brautigan." It turns out that Brautigan and Bernstein both lived (not concurrently, of course) in the same house on Fawcett Ave. in downtown Tacoma, and CPF is trying to raise money to erect an official historic plaque on this site. Come help the world to know the City of Destiny once hosted not one but TWO legendary outlaw poets! (Note: all funds collected at event will be earmarked specifically for the plaque. However, these things are expensive, and in the event of a shortfall in the various efforts to make the goal, the monies will be used to defray the expenses of the Festival itself. Which is also expensive--I mean, look at the nationally renowned figures they're hosting.) Gold passes for the Festival will also be available at screening.
